What to Expect
Our service strives to create a space that reflects the full range of worship expressions-- from reverential majesty to quiet contemplation, from laments to exuberant praise. Our hymnody covers the spectrum from ancient plainsong, through classic hymns from a variety of traditions, all the way to contemporary praise and worship. This diversity reflects the broad variety of our parishioners' backgrounds-- many of us were not raised Anglican. It is not necessary for newcomers to be familiar with the Book of Common Prayer before joining the service, as all of the material for the service is printed in the bulletin and the hymnal.
Children are welcome to stay in the service with parents or join Children's Church during the Service of the Word (the first two thirds of the service). All baptized children are welcome to take Communion with their parents.
People wear a wide range of dress, from jeans to suits and ties. We've even seen a blazer and shorts on the same person and the same time!
Length of Service
Our typical Sunday afternoon service lasts about an hour and a half and is followed by a time for refreshments, fellowship, and adult education.
We are a new community, so our gatherings are rather intimate in character. (Consequently our fellowship hour is usually as long as the service, with good food and better conversation!) We usually have between 30 and 40 on a Sunday, but we have been growing steadily since our start in 2012. Our membership spans many demographics, children and empty-nesters, couples and singles, professionals and students, artists and scientists. Whoever you are, and wherever you find yourself in life, you are welcome!
